The benefits of our program go well beyond relationship building. At Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Central Arkansas, mentorship brings value to youth and communities through
education, career development, and critical thinking. Mentoring is a proven, cost-effective
intervention that unlocks a lifetime of opportunity for those in need of a role model.

Our mission at BBBSCA is to create and support one-to-one mentoring
relationships that ignite the power and promise of our youth.

EMPOWERMENT

JUSTICE
Using mentorship as a tool to dismantle barriers
to resources and opportunities in society
for the children and families we serve.

EQUITY
Using mentorship as a tool to ensure our littles
have access to exactly what they need to pursue
the same opportunities as their peers.

DIVERSITY
Recognizing how mentorship can help our community understand all the differences between us that are based on advantages or barriers to opportunities we experience.

INCLUSION
Using mentorship to foster a sense of belonging
by centering, valuing, and amplifying the voices,
perspectives, and styles of those who experience more barriers based on their identities.

“Me and Mr. Morris have been matched since 6th grade and now I’m 19,
so it’s been an amazing experience. I kind of kept to myself but being
matched and being with someone else you have to share your feelings and
stuff like that. He really helped me get outside of my box.“

 more communities STRENGTHENED

By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community, we are accountable for each child
in our program achieving higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, educational success, and
attainment. Here’s how we do it:

KINDER-READY:
Kinder-ready is a focus on preparing kids for school. We connect youth with mentors as early as age six to begin
fostering a positive adult relationship. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas has mentored 10,000+ youth
across Pulaski, Jefferson, Saline, Faulkner, and Lonoke counties, including seven school districts and eight cities.

SCHOOL-BASED MENTORING:
Our school-based mentoring model has been proven to support academic achievement, with a 72% increase in
math and English achievement. Our programs also increase average daily attendance to school districts and 90%
of youth are more likely to graduate from high school after being mentored. Future success is a key goal for our
students and their mentors; Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors connect youth to internships, apprentice programs,
and employment opportunities.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The impact of mentorship has a powerful ripple effect through surrounding communities. Career readiness and
higher academic achievement lead to an average lifetime income increase of $315,000. Higher incomes deliver
additional tax revenue, higher consumer spending, and increased charitable giving and volunteerism – which
positively impact the community. In fact, for every $1 invested in Big Brothers Big Sisters, $18 is returned to

the community.
